Count Your Blessings {November’s Soul Focus}

In 2012, we created a "Thankful Tree" with my son, who was two at the time. I cut out a giant, bare tree and individual leaves where each day we wrote something we were thankful for. It turned out really cute. Last year, I wasn't able to continue the tradition. This year, I figured this baby wouldn't let me be long enough to make the tree so when I saw a "Count Your Blessings Tree" printable offer come across my email from Somewhat Simple, I was in! YAY! This year, I'm not going to worry about Read more...

Reboot with Juice {November’s Body Focus}

If you were paying attention I just wrote a post about how I wasn't calling whatever it is I'm doing to myself a reboot. Ironically, the first thing I decided to do to "release the bad and get the good," is called a reboot. Reboot with Joe to be exact! I first "met" Joe when I accidentally watched "Fat Sick and Nearly Dead" on Netflix a few months ago. My husband put it on (I have no idea why), and I was mesmerized. Joe's experience kind of went against all I'd known. I mean, living off fresh Read more...

Reimaging Myself

There's too much everywhere. We have too much stuff, too many choices, too much to do, and too much to think about. Like toothpaste. How many damn kinds of toothpaste can they make? Why do we need so many to choose from? Not only do you have different brands, those brands are broken up it to X types and then those are broken up in to flavors. A WHOLE aisle of the supermarket/drug store is devoted to "dental care" and toothpaste makes up one side. (Toothpaste full of evil chemicals, I might add. Read more...

I’m a Hypocrite

I've been a hypocrite. I've been stopping and McDonald's. I've been ordering pizza. I've not been holding on to or following my values and what I know to be right when it comes to our food. What's worse is I've brought my kids with me down this wrong path. My baby is 11 months old. Yesterday, we shared a piece of pizza and a cookie. She threw up. Light blub! I've been slacking. I've been terrible. I'm not doing the best I can for myself or my family when it comes to our health. Food Read more...

Friday Favorites: Progressive Collapsible Produce Keeper

This thing is SAAAA-WEEET! OK, I'm a little too excited about it. How can I not be?! This little thing has kept my grapes fresh and perky for going on three weeks. THREE WEEKS! I ordered more: one for strawberries and one for lettuce (the 4.7-Qt. Lettuce Keeper). I can't wait to see how it goes! Keep healthy food fresh longer? Um, yes please! This purchase was made on zulily.com, and I do not regret taking the chance on it (cuz usually you can't return stuff). It can store several things, Read more...

Weigh In Wednesday: When do you workout?

Now with two kids, I feel like I have NO TIME FOR ANYTHING! My mornings are uncertain, my days are busy and packed so I can spend the least amount of time away from my kids, and my evenings are spent cooking dinner, preparing for the next day, and cuddling my babies...oh, and my husband. Now, more than ever, I feel there is no time. Go ahead and say it..."MAKE TIME!" Well, OK, smarty pants! When do YOU workout? Read more...

Word(s) for 2014

A lot (A LOT) of people make resolutions or goals for a new year. I make goals, which I'm still working on making for 2014. UGH! This new year, I've read a lot of other bloggers picking their "word of the year." Since I accomplished only half of my 2013 goals, focusing on a word or two for the year may be a good thing for me -- especially while I'm still working on getting those goals together. I figure my words will be something that keeps me in check even if I'm not getting to my specific goals. Read more...

Weigh In Wednesday: Do you “take off” for the holidays

I LOVE this time of the year. One of the things I love most is the food! Not only do I love the fruits and veggies in season this time of year, but OOOOOH the stuff you can make! I'm not too proud to tell you I stuff my face at Thanksgiving and eat whatever Christmas cookie I want. I don't feel bad about it. I just don't. What for? It's what I want, so I'm going to do it. I don't freak out on Jan. 1 either. I simply see it as a time to review and create goals and start fresh. I guess you could Read more...
